Problems recur for two reasons.
- Our lack of appreciation that its impossible that a problem will occur and never show its ugly head again. The same problem, something similar but different or different but similar ALWAYS recurs. If problems did not recur, the whole world will be a utopia. Its Heaven if all problems, once they occur self-destruct!
- Problems recur because we allow them to. Too much is taught in too many institutions of great learning about problem solving and too little about problem prevention.
So long as we do not take great pains, through a systematic study of potential problems and their prevention, we condemn ourselves to be constantly solving one problem then the next.
The secret to stop them recurring is not to solve them. It is to prevent them.
